SIEM REAP - DAY TRIP 1

One must remember, when you visit Siem Reap you need to be prepared to visit temples and temples and temples again. Just like Bagan,Myanmar in Siem Reap if you don't need to spend too many days to do your day trips. 2 to 3 days is fine to visit all those major temples. Suggested itinerary for day 1 : In the morning take the small tour to Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom , Bayon,Victory Gate, Thommanom, Chau Say Thevoda, Ta Keo, Ta Phrom, Banteay Kdei, Sras Srang, Prasat Khavan and finish it with Sunset at Phnom Bakheng - normally tuk tuk price is between USD13 - 15. Some charged you up to USD20. Not higher than that price. My itinerary for day 1 : In the morning take small tour to South gate Angkor Thom then visited Central angkor Thom ( Bayon , Phimeanakas , Terrace of the Elephants , Terrace of the Leper King ), Prasat Kavan , Banteay Kdei . Go back hotel for shower....very very hot...don't think I can continue without freshing up first. Then continue my tour in

SIEM REAP : KHMER FOOD

I am back!!!!! My post start with khmer food. I find Khmer food is interestingly almost similar with what we have in Malaysia, Thailand,Myanmar and Vietnam. Most of khmer food cook with khmer spices and coconut cream.     As you see above picture this is my welcome refreshment when I checked in. Clockwise : Caramelised Banana chips, Cold Iced tea with lime, Steamed glutinuos rice with sweet coconut wrap in banana leaf.   Hospitality industry remain competitive here in Siem Reap. Many hotel will provide you extra mile services to gain word of mouth reference from the visitor. Place I stayed provide free airport transfer (tuk tuk) from airport, free one hour khmer massage, free coffee ,tea, banana at bar counter and everytime back to hotel after day tour they will served banana chips, fresh ice tea and fresh cold towel. Most of staff will try hard to remember your name and chat with you.     From top : * Morning Glory aka Kangkung (I don't know tha

MYANMAR TRAVEL: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW?

Myanmar is hot destination on the Southeast Asia travel. 90% of the population is Buddhist. Therefore, their main attraction are mainly pagodas, reclining Buddha, monk and nuns.If you travel to other state of Myanmar you will see the Hindu influence to some of their pagodas and history. They recently opened its doors to tourism and since they are still at pre mature stage, travelling here will be a lot of challenges. When you are travelling to Myanmar, you need to be prepared mentally with many things. 1. BRAND NEW DOLLAR BILLS   They need to have crisp, unmarked and basically new dollar bills. They will not hesitate to just reject your dollar although with just a little creased on it. I encounter this when paying my hotel fees during check in. To my eyes nothing wrong with my dollars. I guess their eyes is really sharp for that. Basically , bring the newest, mint condition dollar notes as if it just got printed out from the machine.   2. NO CREDIT CARD MACHINE   Don&
