Décor Tips To Help You Pull Off The Art Of Layering

Tuesday, July 24, 2018 21 Comments
Have you ever been in a room and felt like it told a story with every turn of your head? Have you ever looked at a space where every glance of your eye catches on something that looks incredibly rich, full and interesting? Perhaps you’ve felt like these are the kind of rooms you want to be in, and are the kind of spaces you hope your newly bought home on Cyberjaya property will look like? Have you ever wondered what the secret behind these beautiful spaces is? The design idea that is playing a big part in these spaces is actually no secret at all: it is the art of layering.

Somewhere between random grouping, exact placement and borderline clutter lies the art of layering. Layering is both an exact science and a subtle art form. It takes conscious effort and planning in stacking design elements on top of one another until the room feels textured and unique. However, you need to retain a certain degree of whimsiness and artfulness to the method of layering lest things start looking too staged. The art of layering is equivalent to tousled hair: created with intent and purpose yet seemingly effortless. Due to the sheer possibilities in the combination of your objects, it is difficult to come up with a one-size-fits-all formula (which essentially is where the beauty in layering lies: it’s versatility). So, read on for some tips and tricks to help you master the art of layering.

Start with the big pieces

It might often seem difficult to find a starting point to begin layering your myriad of décor pieces. Conventional thought would say to start with the smallest, but actually, the easiest way is to start with the biggest piece overall. Start with the placement of the largest piece in terms of width and height. Once you have dealt with that, move on in descending order until the bulk of your pieces are in place.

Diversify with a variety of widths and heights

This is an obvious but essential point. You will need to maintain diversity in the pieces you choose to decorate your space with. Prevent yourself from using too many similar (in terms of shape, size and outlook) pieces. For example, too many bulky pieces will make your space look constricted while too many thin pieces will make your space look just bare. Instead, balance out the bulky objects with some spindly ones for some added variety.

Play around with varied methods of display

As what we said above, avoid having your objects look too “same-same”. Your pieces will look much more interesting when they are displayed using a combination of different techniques. For example, if you collect artwork and are going to display them, think about different ways to display them: hang the more traditional pieces, prop some larger on the wall, or even stack a few smaller ones so that they obscure each other slightly.

When in doubt, throw in a plant

If you’re stuck on layering arrangements and you don’t know how to move forward, consider throwing in a piece of greenery to break up the predictability of layering décor and furniture. A piece like a houseplant will always add a fresh and organic element that complements your assortment of man-made objects and keeps it from looking too contrived.

Go for balance instead of symmetry

When decorating a space, you might have the urge to make things overly symmetrical. However, this is easily one of the main downfalls for layering hopefuls. What is more important is the balance. The art of layering works best when things look naturally placed and effortless. Having your objects arranged much too rigidly and symmetrically will only end up throwing off the balance of your space. Consider looking for ways to shake up the placement of pieces with similar dimensions.

Group like objects together

This is where it can start getting a bit confusing. If you have like objects, sometimes by being a little expected by grouping them together in a somewhat haphazard arrangement can add just the right dose of the unexpected. What this means is that we expect layered pieces and arrangements to look random. So, go the other way and group similar objects together in clusters of two or four. This will draw the attention of the eye and make a high impact.

Don’t be afraid to obscure

You might think: what’s the point in arranging your things in your space if you can’t see them clearly and, in their entirety, right? Sometimes, obscuring some items behind others can add a bit of mystery (and discovery) to your space. Don’t be afraid to partially obscure a piece of art with a lamp or houseplant. Cultivate your space with a sense of mystery to make the eyes of you and your guests more curious to explore the space. This is great in adding new things for you to discover in your home too.

Throw it off

Before things start to get too predictable, add in or incorporate pieces that throw off the grouping of similarly-shaped objects. This adds a little variability and interest to a boring grouping of similar silhouettes.

Take a picture, then re-arrange

Once you’ve finished layering your décor, take a picture of it. Then, take some time to look at in on the screen. This process works wonders for many people because it allows you to view and judge your space more objectively. Remember that sometimes, you are your own best critic.

Benefits of Same Day Delivery for your Florist Business

Sunday, July 22, 2018 29 Comments
Not all florists in Singapore offer same day flower delivery service. In fact, a florist in Singapore may not even offer a florist delivery service because they do not have the time, or they are simply not that confident enough to be able to handle their deliveries just yet. That is why, if you look into it, you will know that most flower shops that have a delivery service get more customers or loyal clients.
There are many benefits to having your own delivery service. Aside from the fact that you will have full control over it and will not have to depend on an independent courier service, you can also save more money that way. The problem that may arise, and that scare most people, is the possibility of failing their client and not being able to make the delivery on time. But with confidence, and proper time management, that is something that is less likely to happen.

Not only will you save money, but your customers will love you more and they would probably increase. During this modern age, most people tend to lean more on products or companies that serve them to a full extent. And delivery is often the most sought out services, especially same day deliveries. Not everyone is patient enough to wait for a product and not everyone is willing to go to a flower shop themselves to order a flower arrangement or a hand bouquet personally. Especially if it was a last-minute idea, like for example, birthday flowers and the day is today.

So, you see, there are many benefits for you and your client if you have a delivery service that you, yourself control because who knows your capabilities more than you? You can even avoid getting orders that are more than you can control. But this will attract more customers and would make your current ones happy because you are making it more convenient for them to place orders in your shop.

Most people that offer same day flower delivery have a website too because this furthers their scope and makes it easier for both parties, you and your customer, to track an order. Make your life and your customers, easier by having your own and exclusive delivery service. It will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

KING'S Launch New Flavors of Ice Cream Potong

Thursday, July 19, 2018 17 Comments
Do you remember the oldies 'Aiskrim potong'?

If you are Malaysian then this ice cream 'Aiskrim potong' will remind you on your childhood days. I remember those days favourite flavour Kacang Merah. These days they have varieties of savoury flavours to choose from.

Recently King's the famous brand in Malaysia came out with new Malaysian flavours' 'Bijan Hitam' (Black Sesame) and Signature Thai Mango, along with a bold new revamped packaging.

'Bijan Hitam' (Black Sesame) traditionally served as hot soup, this twist on the Japanese dessert Black Sesame flavour has the same traditional taste that is popular amongst the generations but in form of a cold twist indulgent treat during the hot weather. You can now enjoy this sweet treat without worrying about straying far from the healthy lifestyle.

Black Sesame is commonly consumed throughout Asia because of its nutritional benefits :

  • Low Cholesterol
  • Lower Sodium
  • Calcium
  • Iron
  • Magnesium
  • Phosphorus
  • Copper
  • Manganese

It is also known to boost nutrient absorption. I could say this refreshingly icy-cold treat delights will uniquely captivate your tongue with the toasted aroma of black sesame.

I am not a big fan of ripe mangoes taste. But King's has nailed it! They sourced mangoes from Thailand, the Oak-Rong Mango which is the most sought-after mango due to its sweetness and juiciness. You don't have to go all the way to Thailand to taste this famous mango. You can now taste it through 'Aiskrim Potong', which now comes with The Signature Thai Mango flavour. I could say the taste as closest to the real fruit!
Kicking off the launch of these 2 amazing flavors, King's has also revamped the Potong's packaging in brighter, vibrant colors to match their bold flavors. Staying true to the classic Potong design, the sophisticated new packaging features the same colors familiar to generations of Malaysian but in bolder hues to appeal to today's youth and younger generation.

King's Potong comes in various pack size :

* Normal range - Rm1.40/stick , RM7.29/multipack
* Signature Range - RM2.00/stick , RM11.40/multipack
* Gold Range - RM5.30/stick, RM29.80/multipack
* Twin pack - RM13.90
* Foam pack - RM9.90

Hearing Loss At Mid 40s

Wednesday, July 04, 2018 14 Comments
The title already gives me goosebumb. Imagine in the mid-40s and suddenly you have this symptom of hearing loss.  If you say yes to all of below, mmmm...I think you need to go for a check-up.

1. Do people seem to mumble or speak in a softer voice than before?

2. Do you feel tired or irritable after a long conversation?

3. Do you sometimes miss key words in a sentence or frequently need to ask people to repeat themselves?

4. When you are in a group or in a crowded restaurant, is it difficult for you to follow the conversation?

5. When you are conversing with other people, does background noise bother you?

6. Do you often need to turn up the volume on your TV or Radio?

7. Do you find it difficult to hear the doorbell or the telephone ring?

8. Is having telephone conversation difficult?

9. Do you find it difficult to pinpoint where an object is (e.g. alarm clock or a telephone) from the sound it makes?

10. Has someone close to you mentioned that you might have a problem with your hearing?

Did You Know?
You hear with your brain, not your ears. Your brain needs to hear all sounds to understand what it said,

There is 6 passage of sound :

1. The bowl of concha captures vibration in the air,

2. The sound is carried through the outer auditory passage

3. The eardrums vibrate and pass the sound into the middle air

4. The tiny bones in the middle ear transmit vibrations to the inner ear

5. The bony labyrinth and cochlea convert vibrations into nerve impulses via tiny hair cells

6. The auditory nerve transmits these impulses to the brain for recognition.

For my case, I always hear this ringing in my ears for many months now. It really disturbing sometimes. Moreover, my Mum has this complete hearing loss on her one side of ears at age of 60s. I always ask this question to myself....what if I have this early hearing loss.

The last time I went for hearing test during my annual medical check-up. That was about 6 years ago, The result was not that good back then.  I was in my late 30s at that time. I was told it is due to I have the problem to focus during that time. OK...At least not bad. I can re-test soon.

The ringing in my ears recently really disturb me these days. So I decided to do some checkup. I bought vouchers for RM36 for ear cleaning and simple hearing test from FAVE. The package is for NewSound Hearing. You can still buy you FAVE package HERE

They have a few outlets for you to choose from. I went to the Pavillion KL outlet. It only took 30 minutes for my case, since my ear is clean just a bit of dust and no earwax. mmmmm... well...I clean my ears regularly you know. This is my first time to ear clean by outside apart from ear candling which I have done before. Totally new experience for me.
The girl who attended to me pump in some ear cleaner liquid and left it for 5 minutes in my ears. Then she pumps out the liquid using clean water. I don't say this is a pleasant experience but after the whole process you feel a lot lighter and squeaky clean ear.

After the ear clean, I was led to audiologist test. I was made to wear a headphone in one soundproof room. I was told to press the button if I hear any sound. It is not a long process. Everything was very pleasant and well explained.

What is my hearing test result?

Yeayyyy!!!! my hearing is normal. Awwwww!!! Thank God!

Ringing in my ears could be Tinnitus . No cure so far. I have to live with this. Hopefully! The ringing in my ears is not that bad and nothing so serious about this so far. As long as my hearing test is normal. I am happy already!
