BUSAN : GWANGALLI BEACH

My Busan-Jeju diary continuation....

17th October 2014

I reached Busan from Jeju at 12:30noon. I took the Subway all the way to Gwangalli. Oh my quite far from Airport. I reached there around 1:45pm. I met the owner of the studio at the Subway station and she took me to her place which is just a 5 minutes walking distance from the station.

This time I don't stay at hotel. I rented a studio for the sake of experience the local lifestyle. Living in studio with kitchen and bed at one place and the need to key in password to the door knob to enter the place.

This is how the Studio look like. Quite comfy right?
The white Sofa, lacy soft bed which complete with heater mattress, she even provided kitchen and washing machine. The owner was very kind to even provide me with 5 packs of ramyun.

After check in , IMA head to Gwangalli Beach which is only 5 minutes walk from the studio. How convenient......Ah! so happy!
This is my lunch at Tom Toms Coffee-Sweet Potato Twist Pretzel. Love it because they prepare it fresh and hot when ordered!

There you go...this is how the Gwangalli Beach look like. Its about 1.4 km long and 64m wide and very famous with fine sand. I like the sand at Udo Island better because it white like snow. This area apparently has undergone a water cleaning program and because of this the water of the beach is pristine. The clean water attract many fishermen, which result to...this place famous with fresh seafood.

Many Ajumma selling this seashell snacks. They will keep calling people to try and said its delicious. huhuhuh..IMA didn't try...afraid of stomachache.

If you are into the watersports, there is Olympic Yacht rental place which you can rent the yachts. You can enjoy water skiing, jet skiing, wind surfing and others exciting water sports. There is also an outer outer concert stage where Busan Ocean Festival and other events are held. Nearby has cultural museum, theatres and also famous brand name shops. It more happening at night with all the lights on.

IMA walked towards back alley and found this Mini Mart and yeahhhhh...I am going to restock the fridge at the studio and tonight going to cook fresh seafood Udon. Love to walk into the groceries store.

Walk until night time just to see the beautiful light up Gwangan Bridge.

Back at the Studio and cook prawn, clams, pine mushroom udon noodles for dinner. Then enjoy grapes and green tea latte while laughing away to famous Korean Variety show.

I have another one full day to enjoy in Busan tomorrow before flying back to Malaysia on 19th Oct 2014.

JEJU : SEAFOOD HOT POT AND SEA URCHIN SEAWEED SOUP

16th October 2014, Wednesday

Today is my final night at Jeju do. I feel sad because my greedy me wish for more times here. Many places I haven't visit eg. my dreams to climb Mt Hallasan. Anyway, I thankful for God to allow me to reach here.

I had this at my favourite Ajumma's Restaurant at Chilsimni Food Street at Seowigpo,Jeju do. That Ajumma was super generous to me too.

Final dinner at Jeju do, I ordered this Spicy Seafood Hot Pot aka Haemul-Jeongol.So many fresh seafood and fresh vegetables in here. The soup was super delicious because the various ingredients combines into this one pot. Do you drooling see this hot pot? What is in this hot pot? Abalone, Octopus, Sea Cucumber, Sea Squirt, Crabs, Prawn, Clams, Enoki Mushrooms and other vegetables.

Ajumma's banchan really don't let me down. Especially her seasoned sesame leaf side dishes and that anchovies. Her sauce which goes with that white cabbage really DAEBAK!!!!
'Ajuma! ma-sit-sso-yo...'

At least she use this delicious sticky purple rice and not the normal white rice. Back home I use to eat brown rice, so it is a bit difficult for me to accept white rice. kekekeke...so snobbish!

The grilled mackerel that I never forget. Love the taste and the crunchiness. You eat it from the meat to the bones and to the tail and head.

Another must try in Jeju is this Sea urchin seaweed soup aka Seongge Miyeok-guk. The yellow colour in the soup bowl is sea urchin. Sea urchin and seaweed soup is rich in protein, iron and low in calories. The taste a bit bland but acceptable to drink it hot. Especially after whole day touring the Island.

On the first night at Jeju, I wanted to eat this famous Jeju Mandarin Orange but mostly sells in bulk like many oranges in one buy. I can't finish it all if I buy it. I wish for kind heart Ajumma to offer me with Jeju Mandarin Orange. I don't want many. Just one is enough to taste. That night while having my hot pot dinner, I saw one car stop in front of restaurant. One Ajuma came out from the car then brought in big basket of Jeju Orange. WTH!

In my heart praying heart for my favourite Ajuma to offer me one orange for dessert. hehehehehe...you see the photo. Ajuma walk to me with a tray of Jeju Orange and offer me 5 Jeju Orange for FREE. She said , its ok no need to pay. I let you try. hahahaha yeah I can understand her clearly although she was talking in Korean to me.

'Ajuma! Gamsahabnida....sarang-hae!!!!'

Wheeeeeee!!!!! my heart screaming happily! My wish came true at Jeju do.

How was the taste?
Not sweet or sour like the normal mandarin orange we ate during CNY. I think this one is perfect to make citrus tea.

After my stomach full, I walked outside and trying to tease this Jeju cat. But this cat...too corky and snobbish cat I ever met! See see ..that fella don't bother me and then just give that one confident look straight to my camera.

The end of my Jeju post and tomorrow I will fly back to Busan for another 2 nights before flying back to Malaysia. This time I will be staying near Gwangalli Beach at Busan. Seaside view...everyone!

BUSAN : BIFF THE SHOPPING STREET

11th October 2014, Saturday

From wet market to dry market and since many attractions are just walking distance nearby, I end up at this most busy shopping street BIFF Square.

Still wanna know how to take subway to BIFF Market????

- Take subway line 1 (orange color)
- Stop at Jagalchi station
- Then take exit no. 7 and walk about 5 minutes.

Haishhhh you won't lost here since too many people walking towards the same place. If lost just asked le.... donno how to ask? Just point le...that is how I travel!

What is BIFF Square?

BIFF square is a film festival place to celebrate Busan International Film Festival which is one of the biggest film festivals in Asia. It takes place during autumn every year.

Yup! IMA was there during that time.

IMA don't really come here for shopping. I came here just to taste the famous Hotteuk opposite Busan Theater. Serious so famous like at tripadvisor suggested to come here and try this famous hotteuk. The line was very long to buy this Hotteuk! So damn laku!!!! Sure rich one this seller!
Mother collected the money from the people and she has 3 Sons. One son take care of the dough ,then one frying the dough and the last one take care of the distribution.

My opinion????
Overrated Hotteuk!
I love the Ajumma Hotteuk at Gamcheon Culture Village. Ajumma...I miss your Hotteuk!!!

Main attraction, this streets full of fashion wear , cosmetics and chic cafe. Who loves shopping????? You will go crazy if you reach this place! Everywhere salesssssss!!!! Events happening on your left right front back and around you....whoaaaaaa!!!!!

Walked somemore...my painful leg from Gamcheon Culture Village still not heal yet. I am here...I need to walk while I am still here....yeah yeah...si greedy mode again!

I saw this Ajumma selling the goguma aka sweet potato. If don't buy regret forever...I bought it for KRW3,000 aka RM10 one bag. WTH!!!!
So bloody hurt my teeth....huhuhuhuhuh...why? why? why I wasted my RM10 for this hard goguma???? Lesson learn????

My leg so damn hurt!!!! I can't really walk anymore!
I actually tour the whole BIFF Square and also Gwangbok - ro Fashion street too. That fashion street really full of brand name and imported clothing line. This is another haven for shoppers who love 20% - 30% discounts.

I head down to subway station and who knows down there another shopping area. I love window shopping so I still walk one round there to satisfy my greediness to make my trip worth it!

huhuhhuhuh... reached hotel room and soaked my feet in warm water...huhuhuhuh suffer!!!!

Next is my adventure during my 40th birthday on 12th Oct 2014.

Painful and satisfying adventure!!!! WTH!

BUSAN : JAGALCHI MARKET

11th October 2014, Saturday

After my hiking trail at Gamcheun Culture Village, I continue my journey to explore Busan's famous market called Jagalchi Fish Market.

How to go to Jagalchi Fish Market?

-Take subway Line 1 (orange colour line)
- You can stop at Jagalchi Station then take exit 10 about 10 minutes walking

There are many other attractions nearby area such as :

* Gukje Market
* BIFF Square
* Taejongdae Park
* Yongduan Park
* Songdo Beach

Just continue walking and you will find these places and you will not lose your way since there are big tourist map nearby. You can use it as reference or can buy map which will cost you around KRW2,000/-. IMA travel using Busan subway map.

Why I chose to go to Jagalchi Market after Gamcheon Culture Village visit?
Jagalchi is just one station from Toseong -Dong. Very convenient!

Jagalchi market is a huge fish market with lots of fresh seafood waiting to be executed live!!!! isk isk isk ...poor creatures! The Jagalchi market is in the big building. Where they sell live creature downstairs and upstairs are sort of restaurant.

The one IMA shown below...is the open area one around Jagalchi too.

From dried to wet...
IMA almost go crazy to see lots of banchan here....huhuhuh wanna buy but afraid cannot finish.

Huge flowery and hairy crabs live.
Dare not order crab because it may eaten up to IMA budget funds. IMA need more for Jeju trip next.
Dried hairtail fish and frozen pollack are everywhere.
IMA got a chance to try frozen pollack spicy soup which IMA will reveal more on food section which come to the end of journey diary!
Long way to go since there are many places visited in 10 days travel.

OK...before we go see more poor sea creatures...

IMA eat first. This is fish cake stall and very hot selling too.
Not bad to eat it hot!

IMA seen eel skinned live merciless...still moving ok...struggling for life!!!!
See those in red on top right????
That was skinned eel.
There are video IMA took but unable to upload here. Trying to find away to do it soon. Too busy now. In that video that seller skinned the eel and then just throw to the table. That skinned eel still moving from pain and....it so geliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!!

There many seller selling...oh well...in Malaysia we call it 'ikan goreng' but there the way they fried is like pan fried. The whole street was selling practically same item. Sort of 'Ikan Bakar' street in Malaysia.

'Siput babi' anyone??????
Remember if you find 'siput babi' in your garden don't throw away...put in the pot then make curry or stew you can eat them....if you can! tell me the taste please!!!!!! hahahahaha

You see the bottom left???
That one is indoor Jagalchi Market.
The right bottom is where the fisherman sell their catch to people.
All fresh from sea!

That grandfather in white uniform is selling ice cream...interesting he wear sort of ancient traditional costume.
Nice view too!

OK! I am done with all live creature execution before my eyes!!! isk isk isk isk

Next will be....BIFF Square shopping street!!!

FIRST IMPRESSION ON BUSAN

I flew out by AirAsia X on 10th Oct 2014 early morning flight and reached Gimhae International Airport, Busan morning too. Since it was a long journey, I booked myself a flatbed seat. I could say it was a good choice and the journey was very comfortable. The price also very reasonable. My only complaint the person sat next to me was snoring away loudly throughout the journey. huhuhuhuh...lucky the engine noise cover it a lil bit. So bad hor...that snoring ajussi?

My hotel was located at Sasang which is only 3 station away from Airport. So no problem at all. Wait a minute...I have problem...I reached early morning and check in time to hotel at 3pm. WTH!!!! No early check in. So no choice to leave my luggage at hotel and wondering around Sasang area.

Sasang is consider a small town. My hotel located near Seubo  Intercity Bus Terminal and since Sasang subway is the interchange station so it is easy for me to commute to subway line 2 or even to line 1. So damn convenient!!!!

But hey....first day I need to kill time before my check in hour. So I just wondering around!

Since it was early in the morning...everything was layback!!!
People around was clearing throat grossly...WTH!
Am I in China???? So confuse for a second.
People were talking in rough manner and seems unfriendly at all.
The street is dirty and the rotten gingko nut falling from tree smells like shit!
Smells of pee from the wall on the street.
The saliva from the spit was all over the street.....

I keep consoling myself...it is too early to judge.
At least I see the different side of Busan.

They are all human and all human live the same way....bad good rude polite...we are all human and no angel!

Here comes the life creature ready for execution for human consume. WTH!

The famous banana milk when you visit korea....I had my breakfast at convenient store!

Walked around and found this market.
Ajuma and Ajussi busy with their selling items.
Many things amuse me.....

End up trying those tteuk. Damn delicious!
It was fresh and tasty.
Nothing like the one I tasted at Hyundai Mall in Seoul.
I thought I ban tteuk from my book when I tasted it from Hyundai Mall and this one totally traditional and delicious!

Walked into this small lil bakery and bought myself some doughnut and bread. Damn shiok too because their dough is like mochi texture.

Then tired exploring the market and walking down every alley....I found a park in front of hospital and enjoy korean multi color corn and melon ice cream. It was windy and Thank God! my waiting is worth it!
At least my hotel room is comfortable with the price I paid.

It was a free and easy trip so my exploration is like a surprise to me.

My journey continue in my next post....
