Which Covid-19 Vaccines Should I take?

I am not sure about you but personally, feel confused about the many types of vaccines available. It's not that we are spoiled with choices. It just a matter of what good and suitable for our body. I bet many of us want the best for ourselves and our family. Do you know that the concept now is to take as it is or wait for your turn again?

When the Malaysian Government announced on the AstraZeneca vaccines will be a giveaway on a voluntary basis, I was sceptical. I can't make the decision at all. While all my family members snatch out the opportunities, here I am still unable to make my own decision. I just can't decide on this at all. Why? Lack of knowledge and so ignorant on getting to know what is what. At least, I want to know where is the origin of this vaccine and the success rate of the trial and much more information needed. Another consideration needed is whether this is suitable for an Asian body since we live in different climates and so on. Did I think too much? Urgh! this is tough for me.

Only now, I have the urge to get to know it further. As far as my knowledge capacity which I gathered the information from my 'google magic work'. I wanted to list it down here for the sake of my personal reference and if my list here benefits others, it will be good too.

Like I mentioned in earlier this post, this entry is for the sake of my own personal reference since I am personally confused with too many vaccines name. My First Virtual Run

Hello World!

As I was about to write this post, just realize my one and only beloved smartphone (LiRong) is giving up his life.  LiRong has been with me for many years now. I think it's about time for me to let him go peacefully soon. I am trying my best to scout for LiRong replacement. Heol! Why am I all excited to find a new one? Bad Rina! No sense of loyalty at all. huhuhuhuh

Anyway, back to my title, my first virtual run.... the story begin when I was sitting on my treadmill after my usual morning walk. I manage to complete on 2km that day. My knee is giving up even at 1km. Adding another 1km was a heavy task for me. Even until yesterday, I feel suffering to the max just to complete 1km. By the way, I did wear a knee guard to protect my bad knee. The pain will suffer throughout the week every time after the morning walk. I have been turning my feeling off. Ignoring the pain for my whole well being sake. I shut myself off and decided not to pamper myself with such at the self pitiless feeling.

I decided to get myself a motivation. I need a carrot to push myself harder. 2km? Huh! I can do more. I was telling myself. Browsed the google play searching for the virtual run. I found this app called 'JomRun'. I don't hesitate to install it.  I was excitedly, to sign up for every cute poster run. So within 10 minutes of installing, I end up signed up for freaking three virtual run. It was at almost 12 midnight that day. Damn! I am so greedy! I even consider myself posses by one greedy ghost that night.

The next day, woke up regretting my last night irresponsible activities blew up almost RM100 for three virtual runs sign up fees. What have I done? The whole day keeps repeating the same word to myself. Why? Why? Why? Why Rina? Why did you do that?

Then the next day, I woke up with the feeling...Gosh! looking back at the e-ticket. I was like....this is so cute! I made a good choice! Urgh!!! me cannot avoid any cute things at all. I signed up for 2 Valentines day run and one Unicorn run. I bet T-Shirt would be cute like its name. hahaha...What am I going to do with my cute little thing fetish?

Like I said! I need a carrot. Carrot to motivate me to move forward and to walk more instead of just freaking 2km. I have the carrot now. So, can I perform? This is my biggest challenge. So every morning I try to do 5km. Never succeeded. I seriously feel pain to my ass just to complete 1km. I distracted myself with movies and kdrama just to do more than 1km.

This morning, woke up with determination to just press start on the apps to complete the 5km. I barely do more than 4km during my usual morning training. But....again...don't know which ghost posses me this morning. I end up press 'START' on the Virtual 5km Valentine's Day Run. Damn! Die! Die! must complete this right? I walk and walk and walk...as fast as I can. I was sweating a bucket. The sweat even drips into my eyes and it stinks my eyes badly. Regret for not to keep any tissue or towel closer to me. Non-stop walking....by the time it hits 2km, I was like almost giving up. But the money spent which is RM29.90 to purchase the ticket keeps floating around my head. I push myself another 1km. Heol! I hit 4km in a blink. Then the devil inside me keeps whispering...you are in pain. Do you want to destroy your own knee?

But then as the devil was whispering the cute Valentine's day T-Shirt, my first ever medal in entire life and the certificate which will make me proud ever....is floating around my head. I need to keep moving. A bit more... a bit more....I can do this!

Tadahhhhhh...I did it! Happy! Happy! I was satisfied with myself. Most importantly, I don't give up this morning even though I feel this is really hard and impossible, especially with my old age stamina.

Finally, proud to announce, I completed first-ever run for my entire life. Yeah! I never join any run or marathon even during school days. I was that girl who always tries her best to avoid PE class in any chance possible. I even avoided Sports day for many years in a row. No..no...I don't regret doing that at all. I did it, because I don't like to be among the crowd.

Moral of this long-winded story, I can do more than I thought. I just need some motivation to push my limit.

For Women Over 40

Lately, I was feeling lethargic and lack of energy to carry myself around. I exercise and do stretching daily without fail. What else I need to do? I was puzzled myself. I read and browse around and found out about the balanced diet and nutrition. It's impossible to take get some of that nutrition in daily diet. Especially when I am in the range of above 40 years old women who is still recovering from knee surgery. I am struggling to keep my body healthy these days.

Muscles Loss

My muscles have diminished a lot from that surgery and knowing my body who loves to accumulate fat than muscles, I definitely need to do something about this.

Even a healthy adult can lose 8% of muscle every decade. I can imagine me? me? Gosh! I don't even want to calculate my losing percentage. No wonder!!!! I feel this way.

At age 40, women lose muscles mass twice as fast as men. Sadly, most of the loss occurs in core muscles which supports the abdomen. This is why the belly fat keeps on growing. I read if the women try to do a crash diet they will end up causes more muscle loss due to eating low calories and not using muscles. mmmmmm......what you want us to do????

Metabolism

I have been struggling with the metabolism for quite sometimes now. I read, after 40 the estrogen hormones level drop and cause the insulin to rise. Then the thyroid goes down which makes you always hungry and end up eating more and burning fewer calories. As for me, I rarely feel hungry. I can live without eating for one whole day. The only time I get hungrier like a 'hungry ghost' is during my premenstrual time.

I tried to add in more vegetables in my daily diet. I avoid sugar and starchy food. I am still fat!

Lifestyle

I consider myself having a physically healthy lifestyle. I am an early morning bird who always chirping around or should I strike off that chirping around? hehehe I started my day with morning stretching and then morning walk for around 1 hour. I did some simple cardio for 30 minutes in the afternoon. It just lately the knee condition kind of not permitted me to do the cardio. So I change to just stretching to ensure I still have and maintain the flexibility.

Nutrition

The key nutrients for above 40s would be the B , D Vitamins and Calcium.

7 signs to tell you are lack of nutritions

1. Unexplained fatigue - that's me!

2. Brittle and dry hair - that's me again!

3. Ridged or spoon-shaped nails - not me. I have a pretty nails

4. Mouth problems such as cracking or inflammation at the corners of the mouth. - I have that!

5. Diarrhea - not me! my morning pass perfectly! hahhahaha don't try to imagine.

6. Apathy or irritability - yes me!

7. Lack of appetite - I thought this is good? Yes! that's me.

You can do a blood test to check which nutrients you are lacking. I have skipped my annual medical check-up for more than 2 years now. We shall see, if those 'big shot' up there announce to lift up this Movement Control Orders next week. I will sign up for one then.

Best Time To Drink Kombucha

Honest confession from me in this post!

I kind of addicted to Kombucha since 3 months ago. I find myself gulping a bottle a day of Kombucha. Trying my best to control my addiction due to the high cost or I need to attend one of the alcoholic rehabs. huhuhuh

I know Kombucha benefit to gut health, due to rich in probiotics, antioxidants, vitamins and enzymes. So?  I was wondering if there are any other benefits out of this delicious drink? When is the best time to drink Kombucha?

My All-time favourite Kombucha

What is Kombucha?

Let us start with what is Kombucha for those who find this is a new drink discovery. Kombucha is a fermented tea. Just like Kimchi! It is a combination of tea, yeast (SCOBY) , raw sugar and it went through bacterial fermentation.

How does Kombucha taste like?

Natural bubbly, deliciously sweet and tart taste.

What is the health Benefit of Kombucha?

* Improve digestions
* Weight Loss
* Detoxification
* Cancer prevention
* Increased Energy
* Immune system booster

When is the best time to drink Kombucha for good health benefit?

Morning Booster - It's a great help to boost energy if drink Kombucha in the morning since it contains caffeine.

Before Meal - If you drink Kombucha before meals, it can help with the maintenance of weight and even weight loss. Why? This drink is a bit sour and acidic which usually helps to curb appetite. Well, don't over drink it with a meal since this drink will kind of disturb your meal nutrients absorption.

At Night before sleep - Since its contain caffeine then it is not advisable to drink Kombucha at night. It will disturb your sleep.

My recommendation to drink Kombucha during midday to help with digestion and to boost energy.

What you need to know before you drink Kombucha?

* Kombucha contains less 0.5 per cent alcohol since its a fermented drink. Similar to yoghurt, tempeh, kimchi.

* Drink it after meal if you have gastric issues since this drink is acidic.

* You can drink Kombucha daily but not recommend to drink more than 500ml a day.

* The brown strands in Kombucha is yeast strands that formed inside the bottle due to fermentation process. Don't worry! It doesn't mean the drink has gone bad. You can drink up!

* Exessive drinking Kombucha may lead to enamel thinning due acidic of this drink.

You can make your own Kombucha at home by purchasing SCOBY. But for me, I prefer to purchase it outside for my convenient. During my recent last day at work, I ordered 2 Kampung Jar set to stock up my fridge. Means, I have 10 of those in my fridge.  hehehe... I find Kampung Jar Kombucha is the most affordable Kombucha in the market. But the taste-wise, I would prefer Wonderbrew Original flavour.

How to store Kombucha?

You can keep in the fridge for 8 weeks for best taste. In actual fact, Kombucha has no expiry date. Since it will continue fermenting and will become more and more vinegary.
