Whenever some Chaebol in Kdrama is having a sleepless night, they swallowed some pills like swallow candy. When feeling nervous or panic, they swallow some pills too. So easy to get those pills prescriptions, huh? Do they just buy all those from the shelf or their Doc just prescribes as they wish? Seriously, those thoughts keep coming to me for years!!!!
I went to the GP and asked to prescribe me for a sleeping pill. Of course, my GP doesn't easily prescribe me with one bottle like I imagine can place on my side cabinet by the bed. The max I could obtain was only 2 tablets. Stingy!! Not that I am asking it for free. I am willing to pay. But the GP won't give up! They asked me to change my lifestyle habits. I wonder what kind of lifestyle I have been living that makes me having such a sleepless night.
I was dying to sleep at least 2 hours without waking up. But I couldn't. My mind seems to be very active with many thoughts. Not like I am a chaebol or a CEO in a big corporation. I am just a mere normal living human. isk isk isk....
As usual 'Mr Google' is always a wizard who will help me during this curious time. How to treat insomnia?
One possible solution is to change my habit of drinking morning coffee with an empty stomach. I am still practising IF. So I don't take breakfast except for one cup of black coffee without sugar and milk.
From the resources read, my habits of drinking coffee with empty stomach apparently disturb the process of my body producing the melatonin which is essential for sleeping. Got it!
I change my habit ...and...I am still not able to sleep. Why? Why? ...being so dramatic again.

What is melatonin?
Melatonin is some hormone released by the pineal gland which helps to regulate the sleep-wake cycle.
Some people said to try to drink warm milk before bedtime. I did. It left me a heavy swollen throat instead of having a good night sleep. Suffering at this point.
When I was hospitalized for 4 nights, I was so happy since the nurse always gave me sleeping pills at 10pm to help me fall asleep. I usually woke up at 3am then. huhuhuh.
I then interested to know more about melatonin which then led me to melatonin supplement discovery.

I found Melatonin supplement by accident during my melatonin searching. Owh!!! I can buy this?So...this is the one they consume in K drama? No wonder..they can just put the whole bottle in the drawer by their bed and pop up anytime they have trouble sleeping.
Before purchasing the melatonin supplement, I did some research online just to make sure this is drug-free and safe for consumptions. I am more than worried about the side effects. To my findings, it kind of safe for the short term. Since I was dying to sleep, I dare myself to buy one bottle from a famous online shop.
I have a search around and the results show Natrol Melatonin is safe and effective. I bought Biotin supplement from the same brand too. It's a long trusted brand by many.

What is my experience taking Melatonin?
This melatonin supplement reached me last Friday. I only pop in this tablet when I really unable to fall asleep after a long time on the bed.
First time experience taking a melatonin supplement
I was on bed at 10pm. I tried to empty my mind and stay focus trying to sleep. tik tok tik tok...1:00am still wide awake. WTH! So I pop up one tablet at around 1:30am with high hope. According to direction, it will take 20 minutes for the pill to take effect. After that, I don't really feel like I am sleeping but more like realistic vivid dreams. I was then wide awake at around 3:45am. I was like....WTH! did I just sleep or not sleep. Ya! I was awake until morning after that so-called dream or something. Hurl!
Second time experience with Melatonin supplement
I immediately took the pill at 10pm. I then woke up at 4am. At least I have a deep sleep. I don't have any dream. But no more sleeping after 4am. I feel energized and alert.
Third time experience with Melatonin supplement
I took it at around 2am. I end up woke up at 3:45am. Then went back to sleep and woke up at around 6am. No dreaming or anything.
After 3 times took the pills, I don't think this pill can make me sleep like a baby. huhuhuh...not as I expected though!

I stop taking it now because only take this when feeling desperate to have some sleep. I can sleep like usual but only fall asleep at around 1am or 2am without any pill and usually wake up at 4am or 5am. Well...at least something. I am trying to adjust my system and hope it goes back to normal and has some usual sleeping pattern.
My conditions become like this after came back from the hospital last 2 weeks.
I bought a Melatonin supplement from Shopee. You can search it there. Don't forget to use a cashback online platform to earn some cash from your shopping. I use Octaplus for this. You can use my referral code which you can find on the top right of this blog
