2 Days 1 Night Staycation in Kuantan, Pahang: A Soulful Escape

Sometimes, you just need to pack your bag, hop into your car, and drive away from the chaos. That’s exactly what I did. A not spontaneous 2D1N staycation to Kuantan, Pahang with my family. Just to fullfill my Dad's wish a getaway by the beach with all his family. My sisters and I planned it for him. Well, no really planned with rigid itinerary. Just not easy to get all 11 of us together at the same time and the same day. It was an open road journey, eat, sleep and eat again hahaha

My role was just as someone who booked the room and make sure everyone get a good room with view.

Halfway through the journey, we made a pit stop at the famous Go Bang Maju Patin Tempoyak, right by Tol Temerloh. This place is THE spot for Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak, a Pahang specialty that locals swear by, recommended by my first sister.

Now, let me confess! tempoyak is fermented durian, and while I don't really fancy durian in its majestic creamy glory, the fermented version? I will stay away from it!

But don’t worry, this place is a food paradise. You’re spoiled with choices, chicken dishes, beef, stir-fried veggies, soup, kerabu, sambal galore, and even a claypot station for those who crave assam pedas or mee kari. Heaven!

Grab a trolley (yes, IKEA-style!), stroll along the buffet line, and pick your dishes like a pro. Everything is displayed with prices, so you can eat like royalty without maxing out your wallet.

And the dessert corner? Chef’s kiss. Traditional Malay kuih, a cendol counter, and sweet treats that make you forget your diet plans. The place is huge, airy, and comfortable, with ample parking space. No stress, just good vibes.

Hello Kuantan: Beachfront Bliss at Hyatt Regency Kuantan Resort

Checked into Hyatt Regency Kuantan and immediately felt like I stepped into a postcard. My room had a view of the beach, and the sound of waves became my lullaby.

Spent the evening strolling along Teluk Cempedak, watching the sky change colors and feeling the breeze play with my hair. No rush. Just me and nature having a quiet conversation. One night isn't enough but our wallet may cry a river if we extend our stay one more day. 5 rooms cost us RM5300 plus. Yes you read the figure right! The most expensive family staycation ever for us. The facilities need to be improved like change the mattress and pillow. Too soft and uncomfortable. The furniture at the old side but overall liveable. I would stay the money spent for the spectacular view and environment.

Sunrise & Breakfast Goals

Woke up to a breathtaking sunrise that painted the sky in shades of gold and pink. I just sat there, sipping coffee and soaking it all in.

Then came the buffet breakfast by the beach and oh my, it was a feast. From nasi lemak to fluffy pancakes, fresh fruits to made-to-order omelettes. I ate like I hadn’t seen food in days. No regrets.

Spa Time at Bayou Spa

If you have time (and you should make time), book a session at Bayou Spa. Naaaahhh! I don't even have time to check out the spa but read the review it was good. By the time all room checked in the sun almost set hahaha

Night time

Just walk beside the resort and you will find plenty of food ,restaurant , shop and many more. This place is lively at night with street performer and so on.

A Gentle Giant Encounter at Kuala Gandah

Before heading home, you can make a detour to Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre. It was humbling to see these gentle giants up close. The centre does amazing work in protecting and rehabilitating elephants. A meaningful end to a soulful trip.

Back to Reality

This staycation reminded me that sometimes, the best therapy is a quiet beach, good food, and a little adventure. Kuantan, you’ve been kind to my soul.

So if you’re thinking of a short getaway, Kuantan might just be your perfect match. And don’t forget to stop by Go Bang Maju for a taste of Pahang’s pride. Even if tempoyak isn’t your thing, the experience is worth it.

Cosmoderm Luminous A Retinol Review

In general, most people are advised to start using retinol in their mid-20s. Why do we need retinol for our skin? Well, this is because collagen and elastin production starts to slow down. Adding retinol into our skincare routine at age of 25 to 30 is the perfect time to slow down the ageing process. So, what is retinol that people are hyping about? In short, retinol is a topical product containing a vitamin A derivative. Technically speaking a type of retinoid which works to increase collagen production. It helps to treat acne, and blackheads and is also ideal to improve skincare texture such as minimising fine lines, and wrinkles and brightening dull skin. Personally, I am a beginner in adding Retinol into my skincare routine. At the age of 47 years old. I guess, am afraid to start one because I read many side effects if use it wrong.  What is the side effect if you use retinol wrong?  Retinols can increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight. So, it is advisable to apply th...
