My Honest Journey with GLP-1 Tirzepatide: The Side Effects Nobody Talks About

Tirzepatide

When I first decided to try GLP-1 therapy with tirzepatide, I was excited about the promise: better blood sugar control, reduced appetite (not relevant since I am a small eater), and finally a chance to shed stubborn weight (for the sake of my old osteo knee). But let me be real with you....this journey isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Alongside the benefits, I’ve faced some uncomfortable side effects that deserve a candid spotlight.

 What Is Tirzepatide?

* Tirzepatide is a dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist used for type 2 diabetes and obesity management.

* It works by slowing gastric emptying and increasing satiety, which helps with weight loss but can trigger digestive discomfort.

Common Side Effects I Experienced

Here’s the raw truth of what my body went through:

1. Nausea & Vomiting

2. Reported in 12–30% of patients, especially during dose escalation.

3. Feels like morning sickness that lingers, sometimes manageable, sometimes overwhelming.

4. Dehydration

5. Because of reduced appetite and occasional vomiting, I found myself drinking less water.

6. This led to headaches, fatigue, and dry skin. Hydration became my daily mantra.

7. GERD (Acid Reflux)

8. Slower stomach emptying can worsen reflux symptoms.

9. I noticed burning sensations after meals, especially if I ate spicy or oily food.

10. Constipation & Diarrhea

11. The gut slowdown sometimes caused constipation, while other days it was the opposite.

12. Loss of Appetite

13. While great for weight loss, it sometimes felt extreme like food was no longer enjoyable.

Quick Comparison of Side Effects

My Coping Tips and this requires more efforts

* Eat smaller meals. Large portions trigger nausea. I always start with protein and by the time want to hit the carb, I will put down the spoon. Can't even continue my meal.

* Stay hydrated: Sip water throughout the day, add electrolytes if needed.

* Avoid trigger foods: Spicy, oily, and acidic meals worsened my reflux. I learned my lesson in a hard way for Ayam Gepuk meal hahaha. Not ever again.

* Listen to your body: Rest when fatigue hits, don’t push too hard.

* Track symptoms: Helps to discuss with your doctor and adjust dosage safely. I read some people rotate the injection part but I sticked to one part because I have bad side effect if injected in another part.

Final Thoughts

Tirzepatide is a game-changer for many of us struggling with weight and metabolic health. But it’s not a magic bullet. It comes with side effects that require patience, self-care, and sometimes medical support. If you’re considering this therapy, go in with eyes wide open, armed with knowledge, and ready to adapt.

For me, the journey is still ongoing. The side effects are real, but so are the results. And as always, I share this not to scare you, but to empower you with the truth.

For note, some people who doesn't experience weight gain despite doing everything healthily without helps and some call using this method for lazy people....I have message for you. I wish you be healthy and don't have to experience what I have gone through just to stay healthy. This method wont work for lazy people.

Cosmoderm Luminous A Retinol Review

In general, most people are advised to start using retinol in their mid-20s. Why do we need retinol for our skin? Well, this is because collagen and elastin production starts to slow down. Adding retinol into our skincare routine at age of 25 to 30 is the perfect time to slow down the ageing process. So, what is retinol that people are hyping about? In short, retinol is a topical product containing a vitamin A derivative. Technically speaking a type of retinoid which works to increase collagen production. It helps to treat acne, and blackheads and is also ideal to improve skincare texture such as minimising fine lines, and wrinkles and brightening dull skin. Personally, I am a beginner in adding Retinol into my skincare routine. At the age of 47 years old. I guess, am afraid to start one because I read many side effects if use it wrong.  What is the side effect if you use retinol wrong?  Retinols can increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight. So, it is advisable to apply th...
