Playing Solitaire is The Best Mind Therapy

 


I personally find that Solitaire is the most interesting card game. For me, solitaire keeps my mind busy when I need to forget something or become mind restless. This is a sort of mental activity to keep me stay sane. I can't be reading books, working or even watch TV or even listen to the radio all the time, right? Playing 


Most importantly, I don't need to pay for it. I always play solitaire online free games. No registration is needed too. I just need to open the website either on mobile or desktop and start to play for free.


I usually play Classic Solitaire at the free online game website solitaire.org. 


How to play Classic Solitaire?


In general, this is a sort of stack cards game. Just remember the sequences on suits and rank, for example, the cards will be stacked as K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4,3 2, A with no mixed suits.


Basically, in summary, the rules of Classic Solitaire are :


🃏 Usually, cards are arranged from left to right, with the bottom-most of the card each pile placed face-up;

🃏 All you need to do is to move the cards from the Table to the Foundations beginning with the Ace of each suit.

🃏 Then you need to draw a pile for the source of the new card and draw one card at one time;

🃏 You can move the card with lower consecutive and place it below the higher rank. Note that that can happen only if the card is in a different colour;

🃏 Two ways to end the Classic Solitaire. Game over only when all cards are cleared or no possible move left.


What is the scoring for Solitaire?

If you are competing with others, TIME is the essence. You will win the game if you are the fastest to complete the game.

A Single-player like me depends on the point system.

How could such easy stacking games be mind therapy or mental exercise?

Well, I myself as a beginner always find myself blocked. This is where you are required to use your brain and find your way out to get the card in order.


Other than Classic Solitaire, there are few types of solitaire games here. I never know that until I found this website. To be honest, all my life I always thought of only one type of solitaire game in the world. 




Klondike Solitaire

How to play  Klondike Solitaire?

You have to move a shuffled deck of cards into four Foundation stacks in ascending order from Ace to King to win the game. Just remember in Klondike Solitaire, Ace is low and King is high. You just lose the game when you're blocked from making the move. I got blocked from the very beginning when I  started this game. kekekeke





Klondike Solitare has no undone button so you need to be extra careful when playing this game. You can get +15 points when you lay a card on the foundation for the first time. If you add a new card to the tableau or turn one over, it will be +5 points. However, you will get -8 points for every 30 seconds. Ahhhhh.... this is why you need to be a quick thinker to win the game.




Spider Solitaire


I still find Spider Solitaire is unreachable for me. It is so difficult for me.


How to play Spider Solitaire?


You are required to assemble thirteen cards of a suit from King to Ace in descending sequence. It will be discarded once you completed all the full suit of thirteen cards. In this game, your brilliant strategy and luck are very important. Don't get yourself block or you will end up losing the game.






You have options on which game mode suit your skill :

Easy - 1 suit
Medium - 2 suits
Hard - 4 suits

Well, if you ask me, I can only complete Easy mode. I still struggle to complete medium mode. Many things to learn.

When playing Spider Solitaire with others, then time is the key. The fastest to complete is the winner. If you are a single player, then scoring is important. You start with 500 points then every move is -1. You will get 100 points for each Royal Flush though.







Free Cell Solitaire



I tried this after founding this free online games website and totally love this. To be honest, it simply easy to complete this game and a good pass time game too.




The game is really simple with just one deck. There are eight rows of cards are dealt to form the Tableau columns and in total 52 cards are used. You can use the four cells to hold a card each. Then you may move any exposed card from the end of a Tableau column to another Tableau column if it creates a descending sequence as long as the colour is different. 

Note that fewer moves is the best for this game to get a better score. So think before you make the next movement.





Pyramid Solitaire



First time try out this game. I find that this one is the fun version of Classic Solitaire.







How to play Pyramid Solitaire?


This game is played with one 52 deck card deck. Deal cards to form a pyramid, starting with a row of one card followed by a row of two cards and so on down to a final row of seven cards. So in total, the pyramid will consist of twenty-eight cards shown face up. Pair cards to a total of thirteen and then moved from play. You can move the Kings without pairing since the Kings are worth thirteen points. You are required to remove all cards from the pyramid in order to complete the game.






Tripeaks Solitaire



This is another fun version of Classic Solitaire. Instead of one pyramid, this one has three peaks. 








How to play Tripeaks Solitaire?


In short, is to clear all the cards from the three peaks. The game is played with one standard deck. Pair cards one at a time to remove them from play and place on top of the discard pile. Note that only open cards can be paired. Just flipped the top card of the deck onto the waste pile when you can't make another move. 
You lost the game if there is no more cards to flip and pair. I am not really a big fan of Tripeaks. I rather play Pyramid over this.








Golf Solitaire


Honestly, I chose this over Pyramid and Tripeaks. Gold Solitaire is suitable for a beginner like me. It took me few minutes to adapt to this game. You may find it really hard to clear all the cards but just aim to clear as many as you can. Be realistic when playing this game. This game is just like its name because same as real golf, a perfect score is hardly achieved.

How to play Golf Solitaire?


You can only move a card from the Table to the Talon pile if no other cards on top of it and it is in sequence. Please note you can only move the top card in each column. Play the cards rank A, 2, 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,J,Q,K. If no more moves are possible just turn cards up one at a time from the stock to the Talon.
For a difficult version, the Ace and King cannot be played on top of each other. The main objective is to clear the thirty-five cards into the Talon pile You win the game when you clear all thirty-five. Otherwise, you lose the game.





Mahjong Solitaire


I have played the Mahjong game before but never tried Mahjong Solitaire. I would say that this is not much different from playing Classic Solitaire. It just this one uses a set of Mahjong tiles rather than cards.


How to play Mahjong Solitaire?


The game is played with 144 tiles which are all laid out before starting the game. Just aim to match the patterns into pairs and remove them from play. You are unable to remove a tile beneath another tile and you can't move a tile if it is locked. You are the winner if all the tiles are removed from the play.


I love playing Solitaire at Solitaire.org because its automatically deal the cards and if I don't know how to play a certain game, there are guides and tips for me to refer to. The only minus plus for me is whenever I want to start a game it takes a long time to load the game and make me wait. After the game starts, I can play really smooth. Other than that, I really enjoy my time at this game website. Oh! you can opt to play either on desktop or on your mobile. No need to download any applications or registration. My Plantar Fasciitis getting bad after return down to KL from Genting short weekend getaway recently. I guess my backpack load too heavy and stress up my heel so much.
